Blatant Marketing
December 20th, 2008 by admin
Many marketers are hesitant to draw attention to their marketing.
They make the mistake of confusing their marketing with their advertising.
Advertising is generally more effective the more invisible is. People respond better to advertisements, when the ad is constructed in such a way as to make the person drop their guard, or in some way accept the advertising as anything other than an advertising message.
Marketing on the other hand can be considered promotion, and in promotion you want to attract as much attention as possible, provided that it is not negative attention.
Marketing is getting people into the seats in the theater. Advertising is what you show on the screen.
Therefore, your marketing should be blatant, attention getting, vibrant, flamboyant – in short, anything that will attract attention to your sales message.
The sales message itself should be slightly less flamboyant and geared more towards your target audience.
