There are jobs and then there are the others

    January 17th, 2012 by admin

A friend brought to my attention the possibility of getting a job where all my needs will be met. She had been jobless the last time we met and seeing that she was all happy and gushing about her new job, I wanted to get the whole story. Her luck started when she contacted waitrose lichfield jobs agency. She had read about their wonderful pay rates according to how the market was doing and since she had done a course in hotel management, she readily applied to join as a specialist in pastries. What followed were a couple of interviews after which she was put on probation for three months. At the end of that period, not only was her salary reviewed but she was given insurance forms to fill out in case any accident occurred in her work place, she would be covered. Well, I thought that was too good to be true. How do you land such a job? That was my only thought. I had not done anything to do with food retail, as I had been doing odd jobs for as long as I could remember. I had found comfort in bar jobs lichfield which paid fairly well and could keep me in comfort. Yet I could not deny the pull to work in another place that offered more than the bare necessities for survival. Sometimes it would get depressing when you left work late and had to nurse a hangover which you got because of trying to block out the many comments you heard. Quitting was no option because you could only do so much not to rely on welfare benefits.
