Utilize Debt Consolidation Instead Of Bankruptcy

Last year my husband and I went too far over board and got a bunch of credit cards, that we maxed out by purchasing new furniture for our home. We also did a lot of other unwise things, that brought us to the brink of having to file for bankruptcy. But we talked to a financial counselor who told us that if we filed for bankruptcy, it would really hurt our chances for building our credit back up, and he advised us strongly to instead go through a debt consolidation company. He told us that we would be able to pay off our debts slowly, and end up with great credit.
