Childhood bipolar disorder-is it over diagnosed?

While doing some research I found one common opinion regarding childhood bipolar disorder. Many parents have had the experience of doctors who feel a child may be showing signs of the disorder but they are unwilling to make an official diagnosis. If in fact doctors are seeing signs and telling parents about it aren’t they in effect diagnosing the child? The other possibility is that kids are still developing and these mood swings may just be that -mood swings. It is important to closely monitor kids who seem to have viable symptoms because early intervention can be key to improving their future mental health.
