Learning the American Accent-Ending Statements CorrectlyAn important part of learning the American accent includes learning how to end statements correctly. Every statement in American English must end with a downward pitch. Imagine a child’s slide in your mind. A child sits on the top of the slide then slides down to the bottom. Now, imagine the stressed syllable of the last important word of a statement as sitting on the top of the slide. This is the highest pitch of the statement. From there, your pitch should go down until you reach the end of the statement, similar to going down the slide.
